About Me
I've been interested in health and healing since I was a kid when my mother ran our school lunch program. Through her, I became interested in nutrition and read some of the books she used in her work. I learned the basics of what constitutes nutritious food and how important food is to human health. Living in the suburbs of Burlington, Vermont, as a teen, I used to hitchhike into town and hang out at the local health food store where I purchased my first health book called 'Healing Ourselves' by Naboru Muramoto. That book taught me the foundations of Eastern medicine philosophy, which does not conceive of the body in parts but instead considers organs as part of the whole, and disease as a deterioration of the entire body-system.
Later, I was introduced to spirituality by my father who gifted me Shirley MacLaine's 'Out on a Limb' book. This launched my fascination with inner journeys and soul work. While working construction, I injured myself and experienced unrelenting upper back pain. My medical doctor was unable to help me and traditional chiropractic adjustments helped for a short-time, but then stopped helping. A blind date with a mutual connection led me to a Network Spinal Analysis chiropractor. The first five minutes I was on the table, I had so much relief from the pain, that I thought to myself, 'I could learn to do this and help other people!' Nine months later, I moved from the East Coast to the Bay Area to enrolled in Life Chiropractic College West where I graduated cum laude!
